We see recovered plastic as the beginning of a new design.
Oceanides designs and manufactures sunglasses, reading glasses and kids' eyewear using frames made from recycled plastic. Instead of treating recovered material as the end of a story, we use it as the starting point for something distinctive and useful.
Material choice is part of our design language—but it is not the only detail that matters. Shape, colour, lenses, components, fit and care all contribute to the finished pair.

The lenses
Lens type and treatment depend on the collection and model. Always check the individual product page for the exact specification.
The components
Hinges and other functional parts complete the frame. We do not describe these components as recycled unless their composition is specifically stated.
Recycled plastic
A SECOND USE. A FRESH FORM.
Recovered plastic is selected and processed so that it can become material for eyewear manufacturing. From there, it can take on new proportions, finishes and colours.
The result is not designed to look like waste. It is designed to look unmistakably Oceanides.

THE RIGHT LENS FOR ITS PURPOSE
Our collections serve different needs. Lens information must therefore be read model by model, rather than assumed across every Oceanides frame.
Sunglasses
Selected sunglasses may include polarised lenses, UV400 protection or an anti-scratch treatment where stated on the product page.
Reading glasses
Reading models are offered in specific strengths. Select the appropriate option and consult an eye-care professional if you are unsure.
Kids' eyewear

Reco CPE30 is the material reference shown on selected Oceanides product pages for their recycled-plastic frames. Because materials may vary by product or collection, check the model you are considering.
Are the lenses made from recycled material?
We do not make that general claim. The recycled-material statement applies to the frame unless a product page explicitly says otherwise.
Do all sunglasses have the same lenses?
No assumption should be made across the entire collection. Polarisation, UV protection and treatments are stated on the corresponding product page where applicable.
