¿Qué es la presbicia o vista cansada?

La presbicia o vista cansada es un defecto refractivo que se debe a la perdida de elasticidad del cristalino. Este elemento es la lente natural del ojo que nos permite enfocar los objetos a diferentes distancias.

La presbicia surge con el desgaste del cristalino con el paso de los años que va perdiendo progresivamente la elasticidad natural, volviéndose más rígido. Dicha enfermedad ocular suele manifestarse a partir de los 40 años y va evolucionando a más con el paso del tiempo.

SÍNTOMAS

¿Cuáles son los síntomas que nos avisan de la aparición de la presbicia o vista cansada? Estos son los indicios que indican la aparición de la enfermedad:

  1. Dificultad para enfocar los objetos cercanos
  2. Cuando tratas de leer algo, necesidad de alejar el texto para verlo mejor.
  3. Sensación de que los objetos y las letras bailan y lo vemos borroso.
  4. Dolor de cabeza cuando mantenemos la vista fija en un punto durante un prolongado periodo de tiempo.
  5. Escozor, ojos rojos, sequedad, lagrimeo y sensación de arenilla al forzar la vista de cerca durante un tiempo prolongado.

Todos estos síntomas se traducen en una molesta fatiga visual.

PREVENCIÓN DE LA PRESBICIA

Lamentablemente la presbicia no se puede prevenir porque está vinculada al proceso de envejecimiento del ojo. Es importante, que a partir de los 40 años se vayan realizando inspecciones periódicas para detectar la aparición y poder así frenar su evolución aunque nunca podrá llegar a detenerse del todo.
